TYPE OF CONTACTOR PRACTICALLY USED ELECTRICAL INDUSTRY
Contactor are of four types
- AC1
- AC2
- AC3
- AC4
AC1
For the purely resistive load or slightly inductive load, we used the AC1 contactor. By which power factor lies between .1 to .5
For example, a heater, an electric bulb
AC2
We need a high starting torque at the starting time, so we use the AC2 type contactor according to the load's current rating.
For example, a slip ring type induction motor
AC3
AC3-type contactor is used where a constant torque is needed.
For example, the Squirrel-cage induction motor, lift, and elevators
In industry, 80 per cent of squirrel-type motors are used
AC4
where the inching operation frequently happens, or when switching on or switching off operation frequently happens.
For example, in the packaging industry.
